Hogs Holding Higher on Friday

Lean hogs are trading with 45 to 60 cent gains so far on Friday. The national average base hog price was reported at $79.25 on Friday morning. The CME Lean Hog Index was reported at $85.93 on October 30, up 15 cents from the day prior. 

USDA’s FOB plant pork cutout value was up 31 cents from the day prior in the Friday AM report at $103.46 per cwt. The ham and belly primals were the only reported higher, up $2.34 and $5.90 respectively. USDA estimated Thursday’s FI hog slaughter at 486,000 head, with the week to date total at 1.950 million head. That is 2,000 head below the previous week but 25,453 head above the same week last year.

Feb 25 Hogs  are at $85.800, up $0.600

Apr 25 Hogs  is at $88.625, up $0.525,
